Fall 2007 Fashion Report: Part I

Filed Under Blog, Fashion, Seasonal | 1 Comment

fall-fur-3.jpgLadies are you ready for Fall? This Fall is so big and so gorgeous that it is going to be in two fabulous parts! This is everything you need to know to be up to the minute for Fall 2007:

The Colors for Fall: Gray and purple are the colors for fall and they are everywhere! Gray takes the lead showing up on every runway, in every store and as a beautiful part of all the Fall accessories. Following gray, purple is the “it” color, a deep gorgeous royal purple. Wear it in everything from purple dyed faux fur to your evening dresses. Last but not least Teal is making small appearances here and there from the London runways to H & M and it looks gorgeous paired with gray!

The Sheath Dress: If you only buy one dress for Fall make it a sheath dress. This sophisticated style which echoes everyone from Audrey Hepburn to every editor Vogue has ever seen is part of this Fall’s sculpted styles and works well for every age range. Wear it with heals and, unlike the short sheath of Spring, make sure the hemline hits below the knee.

Fur!: Oh boy, it’s everywhere (and PETA is not happy)! After the egg throwings surrounding this trend a few years ago designers either got very brave or just forgot the past turmoil, regardless this Fall trend is gorgeous and glamorous. If you are an animal lover like me then embrace this look with faux fur, but no matter how you embrace it add it to everything. Fur coats are obviously gorgeous, but that’s not the only way to wear this trend, add a fur hemline to a skirt, buy a sweater trimmed with fur or simply wrap a fur shaw around your neck to add a hint of the glamor of Fall.

The Lengths for Fall: Skirt and dress lengths this fall are either very, very short, just below the knee or mid calf. If you choose a very short length wear it with this Fall’s chic boots. For below the knee lengths it’s either a sculpted dress or pencil skirt hitting just below the knee or a sculpted look flaring a bit at mid calf, these both look great with this season’s 1940’s influenced heels.

gucci-lips-fall-2007.jpgRed Lips: If you haven’t already noticed red lips are the number one way to update your look for Fall. There is barely a magazine add, runway, or fashion spread without red lips. Make sure you pick a shade that works for you: if you have a warm and light completion choose a warm light red, a warm dark completion will look wonderful with a deep brick red, cool dark completions should opt for deep blue based reds and cool light completions will look great in reds with berry tones. Don’t forget the liner to perfect the look of your red lips!

Berets and Cloches: Hats are back and they are showing up in the form of the ever chic beret and cloche. The most popular color is of course gray, but black is also all the rage for these of the moment accessories. Nothing could look more glamorous than this season’s red lip and one of these fabulous hats in fur!

High Waisted, Wide Leg Trousers: Think Katherine Hepburn elegance, this trend will make you look tall, slim and very elegant. Cuffs or no cuffs it doesn’t matter, just make sure you have a pair.

gray-oxford-2.jpgOxford Heels and Ankle Boots: Heeled ankle boots are still going strong from last year, but this Fall’s star shoe is the oxford heel! This trend looks fabulous with this Fall’s trousers, skirts and opaque tights.

Opaque Tights: Still going strong from last year but with the new color of gray added, wear these with heeled oxfords, ankle boots, anything and everything. To make the transition from summer to fall pair your heeled sandals with black opaque tights for a modern sexy look.

Target Swim Shop

target-swim-3.jpgWell ladies, it’s August 29 and we are approaching the last day of summer. And so in honor of this laid back, free time of year I am writing my summer farewell article.

I’m sitting by a pool in San Diego in my new bathing suit from, guess where…Target. Yes, Target is the place to grab a new bathing suit should you be in need of one. My trusty bikini, although my favorite, had run the course of its days and so, last night, off I went in search of a new favorite. Since I only have about a month left of using it I didn’t want to spend very much so I thought Target might be the place. I tried on every single bikini available in my size and was once again surprised by the quality and great designs Target has brought into their line, and for about half the price of a regular retail bathing suit.

I did find a new favorite, a sexy white bikini in a terry cloth sort of fabric with self polka dots, complete with matte gold metal highlights. Whether you are wrapping up your days of beach and sun or you are like the rest of us in California just starting on our hottest time of year, that crazy time when you think it should be fall and yet it’s hotter than it has been all summer, now is the time to find your new favorite. Use it now to enjoy your last few days of surf and sand or store it for that first day next year when its slightly hot and you just know summer is only a few breaths away.

So for now, goodbye to summer and hello to all those gorgeous fall fashion I’ll have for you on Friday in the Fall 2007 Fashion Report. I can smell the fresh apple cider and feel the leaves crunching under my feet already!

Booty Parlor: Don’t Stop Massage Oil and Naughty Bubbles

Filed Under Bath & Body, Blog | Leave a Comment

naughty-bubbles.jpgdont-stop-massage-oiljpg.jpgThese two little beauties are sitting on my vanity in my bathroom and I am loving them. Why do I love them? First off, they smell so good! The massage oil smells so feminine and delicious that I wish Booty Parlor made a perfume in the same scent, no wonder it’s a celebrity favorite! The bubble bath is completely luxurious and the pink bubbles intermingled with silver glitter is gorgeous.

The massage oil is exactly that, massage oil. This is not a lotion or a massage oil and body oil combined. If you use it as a body oil, since I love the scent so much I of course had to try this, it will leave you slightly sticky and not properly moisturized. However, if you use it as a massage oil, which is after all what it was meant for, it will leave you softly scented and is perfect to create a romantic evening with your man or a fun spa evening with your girlfriends. And the smell, oh the smell!

The trick to the bubble bath is to pour it into the water immediately after you start the water running. If you wait until the tub is almost full you will not get many bubbles, if you pour it right away you get a tub full of glistening skin softening bubbles. My only complaint is that the bottle for the bubble bath is a bit stiff so it can be difficult to get the bubble bath to pour out, but once you do it is well worth the extra little effort.

Overall a very nice set that smells wonderful and cute little bottles that will compliment any vanity.

Brown Bag Botanicals Shea Lip Repair

brown-bag-botanicals-logo.gifBrown Bag Botanicals has been featured in Pregnancy Magazine for their amazing shea butters and were a complete hit at the 2006 Emmy Awards. Available October 1, you must try their amazing Lip Repair with organic shea butter! I used this last night as a night lip treatment and awakened this morning with the softest lips.

I am actually very picky about what I use on my lips and rarely find a product that I really like for my lips. This lip repair is like a body butter for your lips. It’s a combination of shea butter and cocoa butter and it has a wonderful light smell of cocoa. It feels like a butter and soaks into your lips immediately. A little goes a long way to make your lips feel soft, supple, and sexy.

I am so satisfied with this lip repair that I will be making use of it every night as my lip treatment. After all, waking up with soft and nourished lips is the best base for creating your favorite lipstick look!
