Easy Red Lips
Filed Under Blog, Makeup | Leave a Comment
If you haven’t noticed, red lips are the thing for fall. Striking, gorgeous, and a little more intense than the nude lips we’ve been seeing for so many years. So how do you make the transition from nude and natural to a red lipped bombshell without feeling a little, well, over the top?
Start with a red gloss that gives you both the color you want, a little shine and is very easy to apply, no lip brush necessary! The perfect choice? Urban Decay’s Ultraglide Lip Gloss in Gash. “The love child of lip gloss and lipstick”, Gash is a deep slightly shimmering red and goes on lightly enough to be workable and colorful enough to get the in look. Add a little red lip liner and you’ve got the perfect daytime red lip that’s easy to reapply after every high powered business luncheon. On with your busy day, looking great in no time.

Jaqua, The Sweetest Thing

If you are new to the sister run company, Jaqua Beauty, you are about to find a new favorite! Just like the pies and the cakes and the cookies and all the other sweets you love, Jaqua’s products smell amazing, but with none of the guilt and all of the pleasure. These products leave your body in great condition, sweetly moisturized and heavenly scented.
I recently had the pleasure of deliriously dipping myself into Jaqua Beauty’s newest fragrance: Cocoa Buttercream Frosting. Fans of the Jaqua line will notice that this intoxicating new fragrance smells suspiciously similar to Jaqua’s cherished but long gone Marshmallow Cocoa Body Butter. That Body Butter of days gone by was however, very thick and difficult to spread. The new, aptly named, Cocoa Buttercream Frosting Sinfully Rich Cocoa Body Butter is deliciously creamy, irresistibly spreadable and leaves you with the softest skin possible. To say the new body butter is a significant improvement would be to sell you sort, you just simply must try it, it is incredible.
In addition to the wonderful Body Butter, Jaqua has introduced an entire line of very tempting treats in the Cocoa Buttercream Frosting scent. The Shower Creme is thick and rich and surrounds your whole shower with your favorite temptation, chocolate. The Hand Creme leaves your hands very soft and well hydrated, but it is indispensable for one simple reason: every time I am craving chocolate I use this lotion and my craving is more than satisfied. Could I ask for anything more? A product that gives me soft skin and supports me in having a great body!
If you love chocolate, please do not miss Jaqua’s Mint Chocolate Chip Lip Gloss Ring! This gloss comes in an actual ring, which you can wear around your finger (very cute!) or is the perfect size to slip into your pocket or evening bag. The gloss is slightly matte, leaves your lips very soft, smells like mint chocolate chip and has a great medium copper color, which, by the way looks fabulous on redheads!

Fall Nail Trend: Reverse French Manicure
Filed Under Blog, Nails | 3 Comments
Showing up all over the runways from Tracy Reese to Christian Dior, the Reverse French Manicure is the look of the moment. A perfect fit for both the short dress with boots or the sculpted skirt with heels, this is one color scheme that matches everything.
Unlike the Reverse French Manicures of past trends, which show white nails with black tips, this season’s Reverse French takes an avant guard turn with black nails and white tips or a half moon curved ivory bottom to the nail with the rest of the nail black.
To get this look, start with a base coat, then paint two thin coats of a light color (this season preferably ivory), next apply a coat of black leaving a half moon shape of the lite color at the bottom (if you are doing this yourself it may be easier to turn your nails towards you for this last part). Finish with a top coat to keep your manicure durable all week.
If this trend strikes you as a bit heavy, play with it a little. Try Garnet colored nails with an ivory half moon bottom or a chocolate nail with white or ivory tips. All of these trends look gorgeous with the colors and styles of Fall and it adds a certain modern finish to the vintage looks shown on the runways.

Finally, a smoky eye I can be proud of! Gone are the days of struggling for twenty minutes to get my smoky eyes to look great, this pencil does it all in one!
Did you know your smoky eye doesn’t have to be black or charcoal? This green smoky eye pencil creates gorgeous smoky eyes without the heaviness of the darker grays.
The Green Goddess Smoke Out Pencil is so easy to use, it makes smoky eyes quick and painless. You can draw a heavy thin line and blend it up with your favorite smoky green shadow or this pencil looks fabulous when you use it as a graduated shadow. First draw a thin heavy line along your lash line, then draw a thicker line that is slightly lighter in color above the thin line, finally sweep the pencil all over your lower lid to leave a light green shadow. To complete the smoky look blend the edges with the sponge tip.
This pencil is very easy to blend and work with and you will love the smoky look it gives you so easily. It also looks wonderful when layer on top of Urban Decay’s Matte Shadow in Naked
