Last night Hot In Hollywood’s Micheal Medico was live at Randolph Duke’s 2008 Spring Couture Collection, kicking off the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week at Smashbox Studios. After a seven year runway absence, it looks like the Duke is back in full force and giving us everything we’ve been missing!
Here’s the low down on the new collection straight from Micheal:
“So the collection. It was flawless. I have to say, I actually gasped out loud at the beauty of about 5 of the gowns. There was one, oh my god, a silver- silk and satin- crystal and metal trimmed dress that was off one shoulder […], it was stunning. This collection was completely “of the earth”. There were many fern and palm fronds in silhouette. The tones were of dark blue midnight, stone, bronze, quartz, even lime green and changeable silks that were reminiscent of hibiscus and hot house flowers of the tropics. There was also a lot of fan pleating that resembled palm fronds. We also saw layers of chiffon over metallic tones that had a desert feel. I felt this collection was airy and whimsical yet retaining class and maturity. At the after party […] he told us that he put this entire collection together in 4 WEEKS and had only 2 seamstresses working on it. It is amazing. How he pulled off 73 pieces so quickly that were all so unique and varied- I have no idea.”…for more juicy details, hot shots of the show and the full story, check out HotInHollywood.tv!

Givenchy for Audrey Hepburn

The dress that inspired my love of fashion. I was only ten when I first laid eyes on it, it took my breath away, it still does. The thought of being that elegant, sophisticated and beautiful has inspired in me a lifetime of creativity and elegance. This dress prompted me to invent a style that is uniquely my own. When I look at Audrey Hepburn as Sabrina I see confidence, beauty, and grace. An inspiration for all time, a beauty that will never die.
Givenchy said of her, “She was capable of enhancing all my creations. […] She always took the clothes created for her one step further by adding something of her own, some small personal detail which enhanced the whole.”

Buy Clothing That Flatters

Have you subscribed to Self’s One Month Makeover yet? One of today’s tips really stuck me, it’s something I actually did yesterday and I felt great! I bought a top at Target from the new Alice Temperley collection, my first new gray item for Fall’s gray trend. It’s one of those tops that makes you feel so good, you don’t want to take it off. When I got home I was so inspired by the way I felt in the shirt that I promptly went to my wardrobe, pulled out a top that makes me feel dumpy and horrible, threw it in the trash and hung the new shirt in its place. A new confidence filled me and I felt ready to take on the world. Let the new Fall season be your excuse to fill your wardrobe with clothes that make you feel amazing and flatter you.
Pick up something that makes you feel pretty right now, even if you’re not happy with your size. When you get home, toss one item from your closet that doesn’t fit. Every time you shop, repeat the buy-purge process until you’ve built a new wardrobe that shows off your body as it is. If you feel sexier, you’ll walk sexier, act sexier and exude body confidence—which is, well, sexy.
