Urban Decay Matte Shadows

Premering August 1st, Urban Decay fans will finally get what they’ve been asking for: Urban Decay Matte Shadows! Whether you are already a fan of Urban Decay or you are about to discover this fabulous brand, you are going to love these new shadows!
Twelve gorgeous shades, in classic Urban Decay style these little beauties range from sexy earthy neutrals to bright gorgeous hues.
ABC Gum: light, neutral peach
Narcotic: brilliant aqua-marine
Chronic: grass green
Perversion: jet black
Cult: velvety plum
Purple Haze: vibrant lavender
Foxy: light sand
Revolver: plush gray
Illegal: soft mauve
Secret Service: chocolate brown
Naked: nude
Yeyo: sheer pure white
Typically shimmery eye shadows, Urban Decays signature, deliver velvety richness without chalkiness, something Wende Zomnir, co-founder and creative director of Urban Decay Cosmetics has always found to be missing in matte shadows. Now Urban Decay has developed a new formula for matte shadows which is very low on binders and delivers the richness of a shimmer shadow with a very velvety, lush texture.
The shades are intoxicating and there is something here for everyone. Revolver makes the greatest smoky eye, Narcotic is right in line with the bright color trends and ABC Gum is perfect for blending.
This collection is so beautiful that it’s got me on the edge of my seat for fall. Armani is showing bright hues with luscious grays on his fall runway and the Cult and Revolver are going to be an amazing compliment to that combination!
Hint: Try Perversion (jet black) with a liner brush instead of your usual black liner. This creates a beautiful softer look for summer, but because of the rich pigment of this shadow you don’t sacrifice on the drama of black eyeliner.

New Hard Candy Eye Shadow Quartets
Filed Under Blog, Makeup | Leave a Comment

Bright colors are popping up everywhere in the makeup world lately. From Mac’s C Shock collection to Stila’s Summer Eyeshadow Trio in Acapulco with that gorgeous bright green, color is what it’s all about! And so it is with perfect timing that Hard Candy introduces their new Eye Shadow Quartets in Sushi and Frigid.
I am loving these color combo’s, they are all shimmery shadows that make for a very eye catching look! My favorite is the Sushi (the green earthy tones), I am using it every chance I get. The greens are just gorgeous, the light green looks amazing placed just in the arch of my brow, when the light hits it the shadow cast on the rest of my eye looks very seductive. The dark green makes a great liner and it glides on perfectly with the little liner brush in the set. The colors in the Frigid quartet are quite simply beautiful. At first I thought they were a little bright for my taste, but once I tried them on my eyes I realized that the dark caramel color balances the bright colors perfectly. In fact, the day I wore this quartet people were literally stopping me to tell me my eyes looked beautiful! Now if that won’t make a girl wear something twice I don’t know what will.
The ease with which I can create a bright popping eye or do a perfect smoky eye for summer, by blending gorgeous colors into a soft hue, is really nice. These little compacts are also so portable, I can just pop one in my purse and I have everything I need to create chic eyes and keep them fresh looking all day.
These little beauties premier exclusively at Sephora and HardCandy.com on August 1, 2007.

Estee Lauder Mascara

Until now I had not been introduced to the joys of Estee Lauder Mascara. I simply thought it was just like every other mascara on the market, good but nothing extraordinary. To be honest I thought Chanel was the only company who would ever fulfill my true mascara fantasies. Well…Chanel still holds its own, I’m sure it always will, but there is a new mascara in my collection and at the moment I wouldn’t use anything else!
The trick to having mascara give you amazing lashes is to enhance what you have, rather than try to get something you haven’t got and never will. If you have long lashes, lengthen and curl them! If you have short lashes make them thick and curly. That’s why I have been using Estee Lauder’s mascara that is wonderful for long lashes and my mom has been using the Estee Lauder Mascara for shorter thick lashes. My mom and I went straight to the source, the makeup artists at the Estee Lauder counter in Saks Fifth Avenue, Beverly Hills. This is the inside scoop you won’t find on Estee Lauder’s website, they told us everything we needed to know to get the lashes of our dreams. Together we are here to tell you how much we love these mascaras!
Estee Lauder More Than Mascara: This is the mascara I’ve been trying for the last four weeks. According to the makeup artist this mascara is great for long lashes and adds curl. I was a little skeptical because I am lately always disappointed with my mascara results. Disappointment be gone! This stuff is my new secret and love, if I only had time to apply one makeup item, this would be it. This mascara accentuates the full length of my lashes and curls them perfectly, leaving my eyes wide open and gorgeous. There is no clumping, sticking or flaking and I am ready to go with one coat and a few little finishing strokes on the ends. One of my new favorites!
Estee Lauder Illusionist Waterproof: My mom has been testing this mascara for the last four weeks. She found this mascara to be really great for a dressy look, it thickens, doesn’t clump and it separates really well. The black is fabulous, a really deep black, it curls well and with a couple of coats it lengthens too. The waterproof aspect is great and yet it is easy to wash off at night. This is now the mascara she uses when she wants to look her absolute best! It makes her eyes look so good that she won’t even waste it on a day when she’s just loafing around, she saves it for when she wants to look special and her most fabulous!
The secret to these mascaras is in the brush, which is why it is very important to apply your mascara using the new application techniques, the old “just sweep the brush up your lashes” doesn’t work anymore with the new brush technologies. To learn how to apply your mascara using the new technique see my article, Mascara Tips, you’ll love the way this makes your lashes look.
If you love a very deep rich black the Estee Lauder Mascaras are what you want. Of all the big name mascara and makeup brands Estee Lauder has the blackest black on the market.

Give Your Eyes A Face Lift

I’d been looking at Benefit Cosmetic’s Lemon-Aid and Ooh La Lift for a while. To be honest the before and after pictures looked great, but I was thinking that my eyes couldn’t possibly need that much of a lift, I’m only thirty, and I just wasn’t sure that makeup would produce that strong of a result. But after comments like, a “makeover for your eyes”, “results are instant”, and “you look years younger” my curiosity got the better of me and I had to give these products a try.
Wow, wow! This is not your mom’s lemonade, this is the stuff that stars are made of. You know those gorgeous high brows the movie stars always seem to have, how they look great seemingly with or without makeup, and how they always look fresh and reseted? Well this is how they do it, with a product like this. The moment I put the Lemon-Aid on my eye lids I noticed how much it seemed to lift my eyes, my eyebrows looked slightly higher and my eyes seemed to look more open.
When I combined the Lemon-Aid with the Ooh La Lift I was sold! Benefit says, “it feels like an instant eye lift”, I say it not only feels that way, it looks that way. This stuff is wonderful! I looked as if I had hours more sleep than I really had and as if I had just gotten back from a spa vacation. In short, my eyes looked so fabulous that with a little powder I didn’t even want any more makeup.
The Lemon-Aid also works great as an undereye coverup and is great to cover up those little banged up bruises you get from summer sports, like volleyball.
