Fall Nail Trend: Reverse French Manicure
Filed Under Blog, Nails | 3 Comments
Showing up all over the runways from Tracy Reese to Christian Dior, the Reverse French Manicure is the look of the moment. A perfect fit for both the short dress with boots or the sculpted skirt with heels, this is one color scheme that matches everything.
Unlike the Reverse French Manicures of past trends, which show white nails with black tips, this season’s Reverse French takes an avant guard turn with black nails and white tips or a half moon curved ivory bottom to the nail with the rest of the nail black.
To get this look, start with a base coat, then paint two thin coats of a light color (this season preferably ivory), next apply a coat of black leaving a half moon shape of the lite color at the bottom (if you are doing this yourself it may be easier to turn your nails towards you for this last part). Finish with a top coat to keep your manicure durable all week.
If this trend strikes you as a bit heavy, play with it a little. Try Garnet colored nails with an ivory half moon bottom or a chocolate nail with white or ivory tips. All of these trends look gorgeous with the colors and styles of Fall and it adds a certain modern finish to the vintage looks shown on the runways.

Fall Pedicure Tips From Sava Spa

Savvy SAVA Spa owner, Joanna Czech, best known for her deep pore cleansing facials, eyebrow shaping, and waxing has an A-list celebrity client list including: Uma Thurman, Charlize Theron, Christy Turlington, Kyra Sedgwick, Kate Winslet, Kim Cattrall, Natasha Richardson, and Vanessa Redgrave.
Straight from the lady herself here are her best tips for your perfect fall pedicure:
Exfoliate: If too many months of sandal wearing have left you with dry, cracked feet as they often do, it is important to exfoliate and reveal new skin. This alone will improve the foot’s appearance significantly. Use a pumice stone or similar buffing tool on these dry, callused spots.
Soak: Give your feet a nice soak for at least ten minutes. Water should be comfortably warm and not overly hot. Add favorite scented oils or herbs to the water to soften skin and enhance the experience.
Buff: After feet have been soaked and are soft, buffing will soften the skin even further. Especially pay attention to areas that are still rough even after the soak.
Moisturize: Making sure feet and lower legs are dry, quickly apply a lotion or butter. Those made especially for feet are often better as they tend to be thicker and will provide ultimate moisture.
Perfect: Trim and file nails with the appropriate tools followed by buffing the surface of the nail, which will make the polish adhere longer. Apply oil to nail beds and push back cuticles. If cuticles seem incredibly cracked and dry try using a balm instead of oil, which will better retain moisture. Use an astringent to remove excess oils from the nails themselves, then apply one base coat, two coats of your favorite color, one clear top coat, and then bask in the delight of your stunning digits!
Use an exfoliating foot scrub to start off your pedicure, then drizzle a little of your favorite moisturizing bath oil in your foot soak, also use a foot lotion with Shea butter in it. These tips will make the difference in having the softest feet possible!

Summer Pedicure Trend
Filed Under Blog, Nails | Leave a Comment
I just got back from getting a pedicure and let me tell you, there is nothing that makes a woman feel sexier than pretty toes. All you have to do is take a peak down at your toes to be reminded of how beautiful you are.
Whatever your favorite pedicure color is, love it or hate it, the biggest trend in toes this summer is bright crazy colors like orange, gold, and blue. It’s not that this is the only trend, it just happens to be the one popping up everywhere.
I wasn’t sure how I felt about these unusual picks until I saw them on quite a few of my friends and I must say, they look really great with your best fake bake. Tan toes and VINYL Deborah Lippmann in Call Me look very sexy and a dark gold metallic will look great with those gold snakeskin sandals you’ve been saving for that special evening. I can’t resist Vinyl’s chic little bottles anyway, so this is a great excuse to pick up one more!

The Nails of Summer

According to Sephora’s Jessica Anderson white nails are the trend of the moment for summer. Although my favorite for more natural tones is an American manicure (like French, but with more pink fleshy tones), I like the concept of white nails. This looks very chic with this summer’s metallic trends, picture white nails with a bronze purse or white toes peeping out of gold sandals with your best summer glow. I’m loving it already!
“Looks like opposites attract after all: Fall’s gothic, rebellious black nails have attracted a contrasting white manicure for summer; an angelic look with a hint of trend-setting diva. This unexpected nail trend is perfect for summer too—a season of soft pastels, flirty sundresses, and ultra-highlighted locks. After all, what goes better with that sun-kissed summer glow than light, girly nails? Try layering white shades to create different matte or shimmering textures. Let the white hot summer begin!”
