Benefit Cosmetics EyeCon

About a month ago I started using Benefit Cosmetics Eyecon in the hopes that it would fade my massive dark circles, think the raccoon that ran off with your trash last night. I’ve always had to use a lot of undereye coverup and can never go without it, even when I’ve had more than enough sleep. I wanted to find a product that would at least let me roll out of bed in the morning and go for a walk without feeling self conscious about the circles under my eyes.
Eyecon claims to “really fades dark circles(…)eyes will appear instantly brighter while softening the appearance of fine lines”. The technology behind it comes from orange fruit extract which “helps to stimulate microcirculation of the skin and alleviates dark circles” while “apple fruit extracts softens the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles”.
After using this product for a month I have good news! My dark circles are a quater of what they were a month ago! I never would have thought this product would work this well. I now only have to use a quarter of the undereye coverup I used before, I actually am having to train myself to use it sparingly! Who would have imagined? What I did find with Eyecon is that it may fade dark circle, but I did not experience it working at all on the fine lines around my eyes. I now use Eyecon only on the area where I have dark circles and I use either Liz Earle Smoothing Line Serum or Origins Plantidote™ Mega-Mushroom Eye Serum around my eyes for fine lines. Of those two I have found the Liz Earle product to yield the most results.
If you are looking for a product to help with your dark circles, this is it. And best of all - it’s reasonably priced ($28) and a little goes a long way.

L’Occitane Lavender Hand Cream

Did you know that L’Occitane, one of my favorite companies, is in the process of making all of it’s products organic?! Being a lover of organic and natural based products I was very excited to hear this. One of my favorite organic products made by L’Occitane is their Lavender Hand Cream. This cream feels amazing on your skin and will cure even the most parched of hands. While shea butter is the key moisturizing and healing ingredient in this lotion what makes it amazing is the combination of shea, lavender, and vitamin e. Shea butter is both soothing to your skin and actually helps in healing, lavender is great for sensitive skin and the smell is
so relaxing - just smell it whenever you are stressed, while vitamin e aids in encouraging cell renewal. In addition to all of this I also find this hand cream to be slightly water proof, which is great for me, I usually have to use hand cream every time I run my hands under water. And it’s organic! How can you resist?

Stila Illuminating Tinted Moisturizer SPF 15

This is a comment from one of my readers in response to Get A Summer Glow, it perfectly embodies the glow of the moment. I love the “like you just came off the beach” bit! Stila’s illuminator is a must! Check out what she has to say:
“I love the glow too. My favorite is Stila’s illuminated tinted face moisturizer with SPF 15. It gives that perfect glow like you just came off the beach. I put it all over my face just like a normal moisturizer and then use powder on my t-zone, a little blush, and some eye shadow with a natural lip gloss. It’s great!”

The Best Sun Screens
Filed Under Blog, Seasonal, Skin Care | 1 Comment
As summer sneaks up on us you’re no doubt getting your beach and sun gear together. As you gather all the necessities make sure that you replace any sunblock that is over six months old. When sunblock sits for more than six months it starts to lose it’s potency, accounting for hundreds of sunburns with seemingly no known cause. I had sunblock on, I don’t understand why I got burnt! You most likely had on sunblock from last summer, or worse the summer before that. Also, if you are fair skinned make sure you refresh your sunscreen every two hours, but even if you are darker this is a good idea for protection against wrinkles. Fair skins are more at risk for skin cancer, but darker skins are just as at risk for wrinkles!
If you are in need of replacing your screens these are some of my favorites. My cabinet is never without them! I am fair skinned so I have had years of experience with what works and what doesn’t. All of these also have the added benefit of leaving your skin better and softer than before you put them on. And whatever you do don’t forget to add you chicest pair of UVA, UVB block sunglasses to protect the delicate skin around your eyes from sun and squinting lines!

Alba Botanica Chemical Free Sunscreen For Sensitive Skin SPF 18 This is one of my favorite sunscreens, completely chemical free! Perfect for everyday use, this sunscreen works really well under makeup and makes your skin really soft.

Alba Botanica Organic Lavender Sunscreen SPF 30
This sunscreen makes your skin so soft and it smells wonderful, very relaxing. This formula is water resistant so its great for those days when you’re not playing hard in the water, but you want a little something extra. Also works great under makeup.

Neutrogena Ultra Sheer Cooling Mist Sunblock SPF 45 One of my all time favorites, hands down! This stuff is amazing! It’s waterproof, sweatproof, and it feels so good and cooling on your skin. This sunscreen works better than any sunscreen I have ever used and extremely well in intense sun. Last year I was in southern Baja on a sail boat for ten days. Like I said I am fair skinned and the sun is much more intense closer to the equator. I used this sunscreen the whole time, reapplying every two hours, stayed cool, got no burn and actually got a better tan than I have ever had before!

Neutrogena Age Shield Sunblock SPF 45 Like the Neutrogena sunblock above this works amazingly well and is sweatproof and waterproof. I use this sunscreen on my face, particularly when I am in intense sun or am going to be in the sun all day. Both of these sunscreens have Neutrogena’s patented Helioplex™ technology that provides an unbeatable level of Broad-Spectrum UV defense (this technology was previously only available in Europe and works better than anything I’ve seen).
