Liz Earle For Eyes

Let me first say that Liz Earle is just an amazing company, period. Each order comes with a very nice size sample of another product, each of which is so good I can’t help ordering a full size of it. In addition to the samples every order comes beautifully wrapped in delicate gorgeous white and silver tissue paper with “healthy beautiful skin” scrolled across it. This is good customer relations at the max.
The Eyebright Soothing Eye Lotion feels so relaxing on your eyes. This is exactly what my eyes needed! Just sweep a cotton pad dipped in the lotion across your eyes to revitalize them or put the soaked pads on your eyes for ten minutes, the smell is intoxicating yet gentle. You can feel the aloe vera soothing your skin and the herb eyebright is known for refreshing eyes. The minute I used this lotion I noticed the area around my eyes had a slightly calmer look and the slight puffiness dissipated. I also noticed that after using this lotion my eye lids felt very supple. Sometimes my lids get dry but I don’t like the effect of moisturizer on them because it interferes with my eye makeup, so the eyebright lotion is perfect leaving them supple but not sticky.
The thing I love the most about Liz Earle’s products is that a little goes a long way and one product has many uses. Her philosophy is that when you get it right you don’t need a lot of extra stuff. True to form, her Smoothing Line Serum is a multi-tasker. It is made to use around the eyes, but it can also be used on the neck to smooth fine lines and, this is the part I love, it can also be used as an oil free moisturizer for your whole face. What I really like about this product is that although it is a gel it doesn’t leave your skin feeling tight like most gel moisturizers. It feels light around the eyes and soaks in to the skin quickly leaving it soft and moisturized.
Clinique’s New City Block

Oooo! Oooo! Ooooo! Have you checked out Clinique’s newest addition to the City Block family, City Block Sheer Oil Free SPF 25? I have always liked Clinique sunscreens, they are very gentle on your skin, but I love this stuff! Why? Because it is made with “no chemical sunscreens”. Did you know that your body absorbs 60% of whatever you put on it? That means that every time you put a sunscreen with chemicals on your body you are absorbing 60% of those chemicals inside of you. Clinique’s tag line “Make new City Block Sheer Oil-Free SPF 25 your urban necessity” is dead on. It’s not only oil free, it actually works to absorb excess oil so you stay fresher looking longer. Buy two, one to put on right after your moisturizer and one for your purse, for all those little moments that you think, damn, I wish I had thought to bring sunscreen!

I Love You Mom!

My mom is a classic beauty with a sexy edge. The kind of classic beauty that comes to mind when you think of Natalie Wood and Elizabeth Taylor. My mom started me of on the path to a love of beauty when she took me for my first highlights at age twelve, I loved it so much I’ve never returned to my natural color. Air Stockings Premier Silk: This stuff rocks! It sprays on and looks just like hosiery without the added discomfort of another piece of clothing. Washes off with soap and water. Mom likes natural for just a tinge of natural hosiery.
OPI in Red: The classic of all beauty classics. This is a true red nail polish, the kind to wear on a sleek sexy night with your smokiest eye.
LipSense Lipstick: This permanent lipstick leaves your lips soft and will not, by any means, come off on your glass or your man! Gorgeous colors!
Emlin Concentree: Wrinkles be gone! This stuff really works for the toughest wrinkles. Makes your skin soft as southern humidity does!
My mom’s beauty secrets would not be complete without the colors that match her skin, hair and eye tones. She is a deep autumn with dark hair and dark eyes and she would not be caught dead in colors that didn’t look good on her. I would say this is her number one secret to looking young, beautiful, and sparklingly (yes, I made up that word) noticeable!
Banish Crows Feet

A few months after my twenty ninth birthday I started to notice these little lines around my eyes. I was sort of horrified, because while vague they were definitely there and not only that, they were traveling down towards my cheek bones. Great I thought, my first sign that I’m one step away from thirty. Next thought, my first chance to try out a wrinkle cream and see what really works! So off I trotted to Sephora in search of the eye cream that would cure my woes. Funny thing, as I walked into the store someone handed me a sample of Caudalie’s Contour Cream Eyes and Lips. This cream claims to “reduce wrinkles, lighten dark circles, decongest and protect the skin from free radicals”. So, being exactly what I was after I decided to give it a try. Although I love Caudalie’s products (some of their moisturizers are incredible), I am sorry to say that after three months of testing this product, I saw absolutely no results. The lines were still there, a little bit more moisturized perhaps, but still there and it had no effect what so ever on my dark circles.
A little disheartened I just stopped using anything for about a month, until one day, wandering into Origins I heard a woman raving about their Plantidote™ Mega-Mushroom Eye Serum. This serum claims to “calm skin and help break the cycle that can lead to unsightly eye area concerns”. Well, after my last experience I wasn’t about to buy it without asking for a sample first. Home I went with my lovely sample, happy to try something new, but to be honest not really expecting anything, this serum doesn’t even claim to reduce wrinkles. Well what do you know, within two weeks the little lines around my eyes were gone by fifty percent and the area around my eyes looked so healthy and taken care of. This serum is also lite and it feels great on your skin. So as my thirtieth birthday waits one month ahead for me, I am happy to say, my crows feet are significantly diminished and I will definitely be back for this one!
